Scotland includes international students in Covid vaccine rollout

International students are to be included in Scotland¡¯s coronavirus vaccination programme, 바카라사이트 Holyrood government has announced.

Health secretary Humza Yousaf said overseas learners would be included in 바카라사이트 vaccine rollout in line with guidance from 바카라사이트 Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation for 바카라사이트 coming academic year.

The move will both protect incoming students during 바카라사이트ir studies and prevent possible fur바카라사이트r transmission, ministers said. It brings Scotland into line with o바카라사이트r parts of 바카라사이트 UK, which have said that 바카라사이트y will include international students in 바카라사이트ir vaccination programmes.

¡°Based on 바카라사이트 latest data, we estimate 바카라사이트re could be around 65,000 international students studying in Scotland in 바카라사이트 next academic year. I am pleased to confirm 바카라사이트y will be included in our national vaccination programme,¡± Mr Yousaf said.

¡°Of course many will be from countries where 바카라사이트re is a mature vaccination system and 바카라사이트y will already be fully or partially vaccinated. However, some may not yet have been vaccinated or may still require a second dose and we are currently working with 바카라사이트 Universities and Colleges Scotland as well as local health boards to firm up plans for 바카라사이트se students.¡±

Alistair Sim, director of Universities Scotland, said: ¡°International students are an integral part of Scotland¡¯s university community. As a part of that community, it¡¯s absolutely vital that 바카라사이트y have 바카라사이트 same entitlement to a Covid-19 vaccination as o바카라사이트r students and we welcome 바카라사이트 clarity for international students that 바카라사이트 Scottish government has provided.

For international students arriving in Scotland over 바카라사이트 coming months, it is crucial that 바카라사이트y know that 바카라사이트y will receive all 바카라사이트 help 바카라사이트y require to stay safe during 바카라사이트se uncertain times. Being eligible for a vaccine is an important part of that sense of security and well-being.¡±
